Archers

An archer is an individual that participates in the sport of archery in one form or another. It may be bow and arrow hunting for merely attending a shooting range for practice. Whereas years ago ancient archers were always men, today women and children are learning and participating in archery. With the implementation of the Genesis Project, many schools are making archery part of their curriculum so that the students may learn archery if they so choose. Archers have been a part of our history since the time of the medieval archers.

Many men will not take a female archer serious until they see her shoot. Females archers can shoot and hunt as well as men can. Bow and arrow manufacturers make bows with a length and draw to fit women. There have been many girl archers since archery began. If one were to look on the internet for archers, you would see as many pictures of archers that are female, as you would see male archers.

Archery is becoming so popular in schools and organizations that girl archers are becoming common today. They are not as common and male archers but many Girl Scout groups have a girl archer course.

If you are starting as an archer, you many not be sure of what sort of archery equipment you will need. Being fitted with the correct size bow is very important. Often, professional archers work at archery shops and can help you get off on the right track with buying equipment you need. Having the right equipment for your skill level and size can make the difference of you being good at the sport and enjoying it. If you are using incorrect draw lengths, for example, shooting the bow is going to be twice as difficult as it needs to be. A professional archer is trained to know exactly what your archery needs are.

Ancient archers started as far back as the fifth century when the soldiers used bow and arrows for their weapons during times of warfare. Archery has been used off and off in between regular weaponry such as rifles and guns. Famous archers such as Robin Hood have favored the use of bow and arrows for protection. Japan holds an annual archery festival each January and has for many years. Another famous archer is Fred Bear, from Detroit, Michigan, who went on to specialize in archer equipment. Not to be forgotten is Zhou Tong, a Chinese archer that taught archery as well as secondary military arts. He was the teacher to General Yue Fei, which has made in popular in Chinese history. He is said to have taught archery to many famous people in the Chinese culture.
